I don't know why anyone can complain about this wonderful feeder? You must know that this is a VERY SPECIFIC FOOD FOR VERY SPECIFIC SEEDS FOR 2 VERY SPECIFIC SPECIES OF BIRD: Goldfinch and Goldfinch. If you don't have these two types of birds, no other bird will be able to use this feeder, so don't buy it! I live in southern New Mexico in the Chihuahuan desert and have small goldfinches. They love these feeders and pack them up every day, year-round. For only $10 I can afford to replace them and will if they break. One is a year old and works great, the other is brand new as of 10/20/2021. Yes, thistle seeds will mold very quickly if the feed trough is exposed to rain. Rain seeps into tiny holes and builds up into mold. If you live in a rainy and foggy area, I suggest getting a weather shelter and/or squirrels for it. The bottom can be easily removed so you can remove spoiled seeds. My deepest thanks go to the person who offered to make new holes for the little goldfinches. Smaller goldfinches are smaller than regular goldfinches, very small birds, so it is difficult for them to get to the holes when crafting. To allow the smaller goldfinches to get to their burrows, I heated up a screwdriver and made a new set of holes over the old ones, closer to the perches so the tiny little ones could easily reach them. Thanks for the tip, it works fantastic! I have to fill my 2 feeders every 3 days! This is the PERFECT food for goldfinches and small goldfinches!
