Review on Space Grey Bowers & Wilkins PI3 Wireless In-Ear Headphones by Wiktor Sakowski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I would definitely recommend the purchase, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

The headset is not suitable for team-speak, because. The bluetooth protocol has two profiles - either one-way sound in good quality, or two-way sound in terrible quality. So, wired ears in games with a voice - they will not replace (when using a team-speak, the ears go into a mode where even sounds sound disgusting, then they return to one-way mode again, each such switch is annoying), as an option, use an additional microphone, Better than a wired headset. Either wait for some new 6.0 bluetooth or when wifi / airplay 2.0 will replace them in your ears, until unfortunately the realities are . In Windows, on an Intel adapter, sound is quite good using the AptXcomdec. But in Windows, the sound can slow down, especially when something is loading, it may be in Windows 7. There are no such problems on Mac OS, but AptX is installed there by default and for some reason the sound is worse than in Windows, until I figured out what was wrong. Tried the force AAC mode, turned off AptXcompletely, increased the encoding bitrate, increased the minimum frame rate, turned off the headset mode - the same picture, there is some background noise and the sound is flatter than from the phone. Maybe it's the adapter used in the iMac. If anyone knows how to treat - let me know. With iphone in AACcomdec, the sound is amazing, no noise, everything is perfect. By the way, for those who think that AptX is the bestcomdec, I will disappoint you with this article These ears are best heard in AAC. You can notice the difference between AptX and AAC, but not on every track, in general, if you don’t know whatcomdec is currently being used, you can mistake AptX for AAC.

Pros
  • The sound is very, very good, I compare it with the DT770Pro buyers. Good "expensive" basses, the guitar sounds divine especially the Spanish one, the female vocals are amazing too. There are simply no complaints about the sound. Considering that a particularly good sound cannot be transmitted via Bluetooth, these ears really surprised me, what is the secret is not clear . I think it's in the DSP or the DAC. I compared it with analogues in the store, I was especially disappointed with the B&O H5, the sound there is probably worse than in a regular wired headset for an iPhone, at least after pi3 this is a complete disappointment. The pi3 has probably the best sound of any wireless ear, which I've heard of it is actually the reason I bought it. The headband is soft and flexible, fits on any clothes, comfortable. Material - silicone, practical, easy to clean, high quality materials. The buttons could be a little more responsive, but on the other hand, you won’t accidentally press them. The joystick is weird, of course, but everything works as intended. The microphone is very sensitive, even too much. In windows for conferences, the sensitivity of the microphone was set to 3%, by 50% the interlocutor hears how employees are having lunch in the next room. You can vape simultaneously with two devices at once (PC and phone for example), pairs can be controlled from a mobile application. It is very convenient to listen to music and receive calls from PC.
Cons
  • Until I could find a nozzle for the ear canal, the big one is too big, the middle one is too small. The ears tend to fall out, for a good sound they should fit snugly, but in the process they can gradually fall out. Maybe it's in my ears and someone will sit well, my wife also could not pick up nozzles for herself, but she has small ears and always has such a problem. The driver is too big, on the pi4 the driver is even bigger. Unlike Pi4, they do not stop playback when connecting two headphones with magnets, this is of course solved by pressing a button on the headband and not such a big problem in general, given that the batteries last for the whole day, I often just do not turn off either the headphones or playback. Unlike Pi4, there are no sound profiles in the application; in general, there is nothing in the application other than pairs.
