Instead of paying over $300 to replace the entire crank assembly or even replace the bike as suggested by one shop, I bought this faucet and screwed it up himself into the pedal tap. a process that only took 5-10 minutes and works great. This tap includes a built in reamer that will cut off any remaining old threads before they start cutting new ones. Don't forget to TURN LEFT. I don't at first. Cut new threads up to the crank, attach the INSERT to the pedal (I used Loctite to be safe), reinstall the pedal to the crank and tighten with a wrench. The insert may be a little long so you can trim it off the back of the crank when you're done. You will also need to purchase a matching insert (if not included). wanted used. You probably only have to do this once (always).
