Broken handle stuck in block with blade extended and not retracting

I was so excited when I received my new circle cutter and one day after ordering. However, this was defective. I opened the packaging, pushed the button to retract the blade and the handle got stuck in the knife with the blade extended. It didn't retract the blade and I couldn't unscrew the screw cap to remove the blade. I ordered a different cutter from a competitor. It's scary to use because I'm afraid of cutting my finger.
