We bought this star for our 10ft tree. We thought the grandchildren would love it. It projects snowflakes onto a 14-foot ceiling. Based on the 4 foot difference, I would estimate the circumference to be around 3 feet. The only downside I could find was that the pre-lit tree had a warmer clear light while the star had a brighter blue/white LED light. In fact, it's not noticeable, and the grandkids loved looking at the snowflakes on the ceiling. I forgot about them and wasn't too noticeable with high ceilings, I mean how often do you look up :) All in all a good buy and was solid enough that it didn't need adjusting after the first placement.
