Review on 🐠 Aqueon 20 Gallon High Fish Tank Starter Kit with LED Lighting for Aquarium by Christi Lewis

Love this aquarium. Great value for money as these aquariums sell for a lot more without a heater, accessories or lid! The flat hood makes them barely noticeable compared to raised hoods. This is a large size, I upgraded to this from a 10 gallon. The LED lights are very bright which is nice but it's not very natural lighting for the fish but I like it. I also love the hood because it covers the entire top! I have African dwarf frogs that need a fully closed lid so they can't accidentally pop out while catching their breath. The top also has detachable parts on the back to mount a larger filter etc. They can also be easily reattached if necessary. I also like the heater and thermometer on the tank. It maintains a constant water temperature of 76 degrees. Veyween 76 and 78 are perfect for most tropical fish so they are lower but the fish are happy! The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the filter is not suitable for this tank. If sold as a "kit" there must be a matching filter. Maybe if I had a fish or two it would be ok lol. It's been 3 weeks and unfortunately it's still not strong enough. The first week I had white, cloudy water, which is normal for the first week when moving to a new aquarium due to the new substrate or gravel. I thought it would go away, but I also noticed floating particles. Water change on the second week, the first day the water was clear, then on the second day I noticed the water became cloudy, and at night it turned green, still floating particles are not filtered, and the third week is even worse! Now I check the filter cartridges every time about 5 days after changing the water, and the filter cartridge is almost not dirty! I tried the water purifier every 48 hours and still didn't do anything! I made the mistake of thinking this is the best aquarium filter, it's a reputable company etc. So I bought 9 extra filter cartridges to make sure I had enough. Unfortunately I have to look around for a better filter system. The description says double sided filtration, it just goes through the cartridge and a small sponge that measures 2 x 0.5 inches. This is more suitable for my 10 liter aquarium. I used a Tetrawhisper 10 on my 10 gallons and it was a great 3 way filtration system (filters 10 gallons in an hour). I actually thought about trying it in this tank to see if it would be better. I'll whisper buy 20 or 30 for this tank. I know from experience that sometimes you need a filter rated for the next size aquarium to keep the water cleaner, but for some species of fish it may not be too strong. It's funny because the exact same fish in a 10 gallon Whisper 10 aquarium contained 90% cleaner and clearer water than a 20 gallon aquarium with the included filtration system! Just beware of this problem. I would buy it again for the price and use the money saved to invest in a better filtration system.
