To be honest, the avocado slicer does exactly what it promises. Unfortunately, however, I find this to be much slower than the technique I'm using. Removing the ring and blades to remove the hole is too cumbersome. My technique is faster. Pulling out the avocado works, but only if the avocado doesn't fit in the outer loop. You have to peel the skin several times to get the whole avocado out. You will not get nice even slices, which can be seen in the photo. My technique works better. It's a nice gadget, but it doesn't solve my problem. My technique is as follows. I use a sharp knife to cut the avocado in half lengthwise, avoiding the pit. Then I cut the tip of the knife into the pit and twist it to separate it from the avocado and use my thumb to remove the pit from the knife. Fast and easy! After slicing all my avocados and removing the pits, I scoop out the avocado with a serving spoon and quickly place it between the sling and the flesh. After all the avocado flesh has been removed, I use a knife to cut it the way I want it. It's much easier for me! However, if you don't use a lot of avocados and don't have a system to get the job done, this tool might be just what you need. But for me it just slows me down.
