My Yakima bike rack is awkwardly shaped and got in the way for years when not attached to my car. I can't even tell you how many times I've knocked or kicked him. Now it's safely stowed against the wall, high enough so people (under 6ft 6in tall) won't trip over it! the hardware store fixed it. The studs at my shop are pretty flimsy and flimsy, so I installed them to the drywall with heavy-duty latches rated for a few hundred pounds each. I thought of attaching it to a sheet of plywood fastened to the wall to spread the weight over a couple of studs, or putting a block of wood in the wall cavity, but without the extra steps it seems very strong. Handles the weight of a 26 lb rack very well. It is very easy to remove the stand and turn it on. I am very glad that there is finally a special place to keep this thing!
