I have a new rugged case for my phone that has a built in stand when I watch a movie or YouTube tutorial so I can no longer attach the metal plate to my existing magnetic mount which worked surprisingly well. I thought it would be a perfect replacement but the clamp piece doesn't have enough grip on the air vent of my 2017 Mazda6. Every time I open the clamp piece the entire mount shifts and I have to readjust it to get it back to where I want it. Then, as I drive, it inevitably gradually moves to the point where I have to put it back to its original position. Disappointing. If the ribs in my vents were thicker maybe they could attach to them better but unfortunately it was a waste of money.
