Great accessory for safe driving

I bought this for my wife so she can use her phone as GPS while driving without having to look at it while driving. It attaches easily to the vent and works well if you attach it to a good spot on the vent. Also, the middle of the phone must be the cut off part, otherwise it will fall off. This is a great product which I have also used and was one of the cheapest I could find. Very impressive!

17mm Ball Mount: Mounts

I have a 3 year old Arkon car phone mount with suction cup and crappy rubber fingers. who never held my phone 100% securely and ended up cracking his fingers. I'm happy to confirm that the mount's finger clip fits a 17mm sphere and fits the Arkon perfectly. Part of the vent clip was discarded. The spring on the finger clip is not as strong as on the Arkon and I would have liked a quarter inch more finger length to accommodate the ring on my S7, but works satisfactorily.

Spring is too strong. Difficult to use with one hand

Unfortunately, you need both hands to pick up the phone. One to hold it open and the other to make sure your phone is centered. I've tried it many times with one hand and it will literally throw your phone up several feet if not seated properly. I have a Galaxy S8 with a curved screen and the force of the holder actually broke the screen protector I had on it. It's too strong and you can't adjust it. If you prefer to assemble/disassemble your phone with two hands, this might work well. It holds

Very low clamping force

I have a new rugged case for my phone that has a built in stand when I watch a movie or YouTube tutorial so I can no longer attach the metal plate to my existing magnetic mount which worked surprisingly well. I thought it would be a perfect replacement but the clamp piece doesn't have enough grip on the air vent of my 2017 Mazda6. Every time I open the clamp piece the entire mount shifts and I have to readjust it to get it back to where I want it. Then, as I drive, it inevitably gradually moves

Minimize ball joint movement to avoid re-tightening of the handle.

I like that this thing mounts on the vent. An additional advantage is the cooling of my phone. I don't have to worry about my phone overheating. I'm taking off a star because I've noticed that I have to tighten it every now and then because at some point it loses its grip on the vent. The cure is to minimize movement. I used a 3M cable holder to keep the charging cable in place. By locking the charging cable position I can secure the phone without moving the arm hinge. I just stretched the…
