Unfortunately, you need both hands to pick up the phone. One to hold it open and the other to make sure your phone is centered. I've tried it many times with one hand and it will literally throw your phone up several feet if not seated properly. I have a Galaxy S8 with a curved screen and the force of the holder actually broke the screen protector I had on it. It's too strong and you can't adjust it. If you prefer to assemble/disassemble your phone with two hands, this might work well. It holds well on the air outlet as this part is adjustable.
