After cracking open one of my antique cast iron skillets I realized I have nothing to lose and of course I can try, I'm glad that I did that! I followed the instructions and carefully cleaned the crack, then using a dremel with a small ball drill bit, I made a groove in the crack for the JB Weld to grip. I cleaned the area with a degreaser and applied the product. After 24+ hours the filler had set and I sanded it down. Water tested overnight, no leaks. Thoroughly cleaned the pan and went through two seasoning cycles at 500 degrees for 1 hour plus chilling time. I have used the pan several times since then and the repair has been delayed.
