I installed one of these on a '68 GMC after the mechanical pump failed. It worked fine for over 6 years and then shut down without warning. I would call it a normal lifespan, but not great. Unfortunately, this only applied to the 2002 model; The next two I bought failed in 6 months or less. I did an autopsy; The internal check valve appears to have fallen apart. I have not yet decided whether to disassemble another defective Delco after removing it, but his replacement will not be another Delco. My first EP12S was installed in the engine bay where it was easy to work with (the manual didn't say not to). It seemed that it does not lose its original appearance in any weather. However, the instructions for all the latest production pumps I've tried say they must be mounted low near the gas tank and cannot be raised more than 12 inches. Of course, when I tried my luck and installed the first new Delco where the old one was, it was prone to exhaust fumes and lost efficiency in warm weather until I lowered it. Where has the technology gone from 2002 - or am I just lucky? As another reviewer said, the picture is wrong (and it was, at least last year).
