We thought this would solve our problems by buying fixtures with taller mounting plates. It took a bit of trimming to fit our side knees, which wasn't a big deal. However, since you only have two typical attachment points for the shim plate and they take up a lot of plastic space, we still can't center our light's base plate on the block. As long as your flashlight's mounting screws (turn the capscrews) are near the vertical centerline of your flashlight's mounting plate, you're fine. If they are higher than the center line (like ours) you may not have proper mounting holes.
