Perfect the way it is! I bought it because you have the option to change the position of the needle as it is designed that way and not needed my previous 1/4" foot was way off and you couldn't adjust the needle position so I had to use a different foot and measure each time. It's absolutely perfect! Line up the needle with the line (setting 1/ 4" on the machine) of the fabric along the edge. Run and forward. You can see I cut 6 2.5 inch squares and sewed them together, pressed and they fit perfectly.
