True gigabit speeds to fix broken AT&T installs

I just installed the AT&T Gigapower service. Two weeks later, a storm hit my area and the AT&T router burned down. Along with this, 2 of my managed 24-port gigabit switches connected to the router were also powered off. AT&T came in and replaced the router, but refused to take responsibility for any damage to my network equipment. I looked at AT&T's crappy work and found that they DID NOT GROUND the wire going into the house. They also do NOT even have a 3 pin power supply on their ONT unit in my garage. The repair tech told me that after every storm they go out and replace damaged routers because of the cheaper hardware to install. I still have a fight with AT&T because of their poor installability. Basically, I don't want another storm to bring my network down again, so I need a good surge protector for this "unprotected" network. I have tried many RJ45 type network filters. Most of them are only designed for CAT5 connections and cannot connect to a network with a speed higher than 100 Mbit/s. I saw this product and decided to try it. Other cheap end-to-end devices didn't even register the connection properly. This nifty gadget was able to register a gigabit connection instantly! I made a ground wire out of an old computer power cord and connected it to a 5000 joules surge protector. I checked the network speed on the Speedtest website. The download speed is 915-950 Mbps, and the upload speed is around the same range. For reliable Gigabit Ethernet surge protection, this is the real deal. Unfortunately, the consumer must make every effort to correct the inadequate installation of a large network giant like AT&T. I feel sorry for the average non-electronic user who has to deal with the fallout of spending a few bucks. Support and Complaints Process. This is a story for another time. Check out the attached before and after photos of my installation to fix what AT&T wouldn't fix. Have a question? Just ask me and I will answer to the best of my ability.
