Great for my 1995 Chamberlain. Works great now! Watching a YouTube video on how to do this is highly recommended as the included instructions are printed on a small piece of paper at a relatively low resolution. This is a very doable project for the average DIYer. It's not easy, but it can be done. Here are a few tips and a few places I got stuck: - Take a picture of the wiring configurations - Don't fiddle with the travel/force settings and don't disconnect the back panel where all the controller inputs are connected, if you do not. It is necessary. You need a punch that is the same width as the roll pin that holds the white gear to the shaft. If the width is not the same, the pen will stretch, which is counterproductive. They're a pain to get out of. Hit hard, accurate, and many times. After dropping the motor assembly you will need to use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to pry everything off the shaft. There is one clutch that really stuck with me and was the last bit preventing me from accessing the worm gear. As for the last part, once you have everything back together, install everything as far down the shaft as possible. It didn't work on my first try and I had to take the motor out to fix it. The problem that arises is that the shaft moves in and out and the backlash makes it impossible for the speed sensor to function properly. This caused my door to open and close about 5 feet before changing direction. I pulled it out, helped the parts lower the motor shaft with a hammer, put everything back together and it worked great. The last fun part is reattaching the chain so it aligns properly when opening/closing. At this stage of moving and testing, DO NOT allow the gate to hit the metal stops in the track while checking. All your tension will go in one direction and the opener won't be able to move it. When this happens, know that the tension will be released with fury from hell. That means stand on the opposite side so he doesn't cut your face when he lets go. or maybe ask a professional to take care of it. I loosened it from the drive sprocket with a wrench and it made quite a noise. Once you master this you will become a garage door opener pro and have a really good understanding of how it works, what can I say. it's really cool and why I'm doing these projects myself. It's going to take a long time if you don't know what you're doing, so maybe free up your schedule for the afternoon. Much luck
