I've been looking for a decent capture card for under $100 that actually connects via USB 3 and can record YUY2 up to 1080p60. Unfortunately, once you get below that price point, most cards and clones get cheaper and only use USB 2.0 and MJPEG. The main problem is the image quality when working with MJPEG. They take with them all known compression artifacts from the JPEG format. It might not be as noticeable at 1080p, but it's still there. If you plan to play lower resolution retro games, these artifacts will be much more noticeable. In addition, they also tend to introduce noticeable latency. All in all, if you're worried about quality, this is all going to be a bad time. And they have so flooded the market with various clones, designs and inaccurate advertising (some advertise as USB 3 but for example only 2) that it is very difficult to find anything worth buying. This one caught my eye and thanks to another reviewer who confirmed its ability to push me into its choice. It does exactly what it says on the tin and so far in my brief ownership and testing I still think it's worth buying. Proper USB connection 3Video recording up to 1080p60 YUY2Very low eye/touch latency - managed to play some games via OBS Preview/Windows Camera Utility with no noticeable lag. The only caveat I found is that the included USB-C/A dongle is not secure. However, using my own Anker brand USB-C to USB-A cable worked just fine. A NOTICE. I haven't been able to test the passthrough ability, so take it as you like. The bonus is that the manufacturer actually has a product page for it and even sells it directly through their own website, which I think gives it some points of legitimation. Aside from not getting you out of the warehouse or getting sucked into the "clone wars," this looks like a great option to stay on the shortlist for a capture card.
