I am a float fisherman and in the past I had an old style fish finder bud that attaches to tube and was a good size rod etc and I noticed this new technology and decided to try it. That works fine. I tied the sonar part to a strong mono and held it out of the water (so it wouldn't turn on automatically in the water) until I needed to see the depth and see if there were any fish around, then just dropped it. in this short 2ft strong mono. But it's not so little that I'm not happy, I just wish he had a little more time. If it was a device that uses AA or AAA batteries it would be better as they could easily be replaced with water. Now I take a small USB charger with me so that it is enough for everyday use (USB). It's very nice to be able to take a peek to see if there are any fish around. It seems to do everything the ad says. it does. Overall I'm very happy I have it as it's a lot less bulky and easier to use than the old product I had.
