Everything works! I really liked that this kit came with 2 working batteries so I didn't have to go through the trash to find those batteries. My fish loves to squeeze into every little space so he managed to separate the heater from the wall but he has yet to do it with those suction cups! read. When the lights are on the numbers are readable but at night when people are most afraid to leave the heaters on I can't read them so I always use the flashlight on my phone to read the numbers. Just a minor inconvenience, but not so big that I hate it. I've only had it 4 days but it works really well and I love that it's small! Update: It's been over a month since I bought it and I haven't had any overheating issues yet. Sometimes I notice that it's a bit warm (when it gets around 30 degrees I open a window or something, I don't use the air conditioning or heating in my apartment). I haven't turned it off yet except when cleaning the tank!
