My dog taught this whistle very quickly. I just gave her a treat every time and now she comes all the time. I don't know how far it can be heard because it doesn't go too far. At the same time she disappeared into the forest and returned when I whistled. Two things to note: The whistle is not very loud to the human ear. It actually sounds like a broken whistle, but obviously it isn't because the dog hears it even when it's not in sight. Secondly, my dog is a German Shepherd and quite well behaved. It was easy for me to get her to answer. That can't be the rule. Every breed is unique and it won't work if you don't take the time to teach them repetition.
