A few months ago I bought a used 2007 Honda Civic coupe. I was disappointed that the fuel consumption was lower than expected, then I pulled the air filter and it turned out to be dirty. My brother used the same K&N washable air filter and loved it. I just installed it and did my first fuel economy before and after check. Driving conditions were identical, a good mix of city streets and freeways, and my MPG went from an average of 28 (before) to 31.5 (after). Much more in line with the average values I would expect from this car based on my driving style. I haven't washed the filter yet, but I'll update this post when I do. It is by far the quickest, easiest and cheapest way to save fuel and I kick myself for not doing it the day I bought the car. If you've never changed your car's air filter, it's as easy as changing your wiper blades. With Honda, it's easy, no tools required! Update: Still driving aggressively, love it and still get 30+ mpg when I fill up!
