I liked how it looked and felt simple and easy, but it's not that simple. First, there is no line or mark anywhere to indicate the amount of water to pour into the main tank (before inserting the middle bucket), so it's very easy to underfill or overfill and you'll have to adjust it . You can either try to run a thin stream between the outer and inner buckets, but you risk getting a drip on the ice. Ensure a good, even seal around the floor. A little easier said than done. Once that's done, you put on the upper, which even a good seal doesn't seem to catch that easily. Then place in the freezer for a few hours. Whether you have filling issues or not, having a bucket full of the right size ice chips sounds good in theory, but when you take out a whole bucket of ice you expose everything. To heat ice outside of the freezer, causing all the ice to stick together later. I'm giving a few stars for several reasons: I like the size of the ice cream, I like the fun of squeezing the whole ice cream out of a crack, and because of the size of the ice chunks, they freeze fairly quickly. Much faster than traditional dice. I'm happy for that.
