We have been using a Baofeng BF-888 radio for about 4 years. They got old and worn out (due to age, fall, etc.). I saw these walkie talkies and they seemed perfect to me. We don't use them for long distances, only at Walmarts, grocery stores, etc. when my wife and I go shopping. We usually wander through different areas and departments and need to stay in touch. We used them today at Sam's Club and Walmart. They worked great. They were crisp, with little to no static or noise. We haven't tried VOX, we don't use this feature. They are lightweight and hang around the neck with very little discomfort. I was really surprised how well they worked for such a compact device. We could easily keep in touch. They are much less bulky and lighter than the radios we use. The only "change" I make is to order sturdier lanyards. The ones provided worked well but I felt they were a bit flimsy. We give it a clear five stars for that.
