Let me preface this with "I HATE SHANKING WINDOW COVER!". Something always goes wrong. Or with lengths, pleats, nubs, drywall, parts that don't fit tightly, and so on. I substituted another stick with the tips inserted. The windows and our verticals didn't match so I bought this bar to have dividers at the bottom and a more closed panel at the top (yet to buy). At first I was concerned that I couldn't just lower the bar. He is inserted. Once I had everything in mind, I inserted a rod in the middle and at the end, added the panels and fastened them. Then I moved from the center to another bracket and added panels and attached them. It was actually a lot easier than any others I've used and I think they're more secure. When I get the new plates, all I have to do is unscrew the tip, slide the rod back a bit, add them, and put everything back in place. Looks great with a black iron bed. NOTE: Be careful not to install the bracket upside down. I knew better and I was still wrong. :)
