I'm one of the artists who made the transition from stretched canvas to this framed cardboard stock. This is a more expensive product than canvas but has many advantages and can be used on acrylic, ink and the newer alcohol based inks. It needs prep before painting and I have found that I need to apply Kilz Sealer and Stain Blocker first and then apply the Gesso finish. These birch wood painting surfaces are great for casting, I use a smaller product and they go from finishing to hanging easily as they don't need framing. I especially like to create triptychs in one setting.
