Review on High-Speed MoCA 2.5 Ethernet Over Coaxial Adapter with Dual Gigabit Ports (2 Pack) - TL-MC84 Model by David Carter

Fast MoCA 2.5 adapter at a great price

I was looking for a way to replace my slow and unstable powerline adapters without running a new cable or spending a fortune. My house is a lathe and plaster, in other words, a Faraday cage, so Wi-Fi is limited. I started looking into MoCA and this seemed like a logical choice to me as it's high speed and I have multiple coax jacks nearby wherever I want. Ethernet drop. Since MoCA 2.5 is long gone I decided to use 2.5 instead of 2.0. Unfortunately, adapters for 2.5 are hard to find. I chose goCoax but they keep selling out. I found Translite by accident, tracked them down to Revain and decided to give it a try. Performance It is best to remove this as soon as possible. The MoCA adapters were as fast as a standard 5e Ethernet cable. My machines hit their default speed of 940Mbps. I used four machines to copy two 11GB files and both sets of machines were able to maintain speeds in excess of 940Mbps during copying, giving throughput that is higher than a single Cat 5e cable. The package arrived much sooner than expected based on Revain's estimate. . I ordered it late January 30th and received the package on February 3rd. The box is not clear. Aside from a little barcode on the label that says Translite, you have no idea what's in the box. This isn't an Apple Watch unboxing experience, and I'm happy about that. I would have preferred a lower price than fancy packaging. The package includes: Two TL-MC84 MoCA adapters Two Cat 5e cables Two coaxial cables Two USB power adapters (0.5A) Two micro USB cables for power A very poor user manual Point of entry not included adapter (POE). Translite claims that built-in security bypasses the need for a POE filter. The only disappointment is the instruction manual. It's almost impossible to read, and some of the images appear to be copies of copies. They were unreadable. I couldn't find an online version of the manual, so I had to scan it into Acrobat before I could read the instructions. There are many errors in the manual and the adapter is called the DaulGig-2 adapter. Be sure to check the underside of the adapter so as not to "bypass" the warranty. What I liked The setup is very simple. Changing the IP address can be tedious if you deploy more than 3-4 adapters. Adapters look good. Each adapter has two RJ45 ports. It's great to have multiple ports to not have to host a hub to power my micro USB application. That might be a downside for some, but I like having a universal power supply and cord so I don't have to worry about losing or damaging them. It's not USB-C, but I still have a few micro-USB cables. The form factor is decent. GoCoax may be a bit slimmer and better looking, but it only has one Ethernet port. What can be improved? Instruction Manual and Instructions. An online version would be great. An additional explanation of some settings would be helpful. I would prefer a stand for using adapters vertically, but that's a personal choice. Overall, if there are no problems with MoCA adapters, this is a good choice. They cost the same or less than equivalent MoCA 2.0 adapters. Translite doesn't have a Motorola-sized company, but it's a great product at a great price that actually works as advertised.
