Review on Grommet Eyelet Plier Set by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to understand operation, even without instructions

I had no problems with this tool. I've never used a shim tool before, but after studying the construction for a minute I was able to figure out how this thing works in combination with shims. Yes, it's a bit cheaply made - not the best quality, but just don't press too hard when forming the grommets. If you can also use a hole punch (I used a regular hand hole punch) and punch holes before using the spacing tool, things will go MUCH smoother. I think some users may be applying too much. Pressure with a tool and cheap little pieces of metal (eyelets) because they aren't that strong so you don't really have to press very hard to bend the metal. As mentioned earlier, it works best if you can rotate the tool a bit as you push. Seems to make for a more even clip around the perimeter if you can move the tool as you press, release, rotate, press, release, rotate, etc.

Pros
  • Warm notice: The bottom of the eyelet is flower-shaped and no washer is needed; After punching with a hole punch, the bottom will naturally bend; See the fourth part of the fourth picture
Cons
  • Long delivery
