Sometimes a device fails to send a wake-up signal to downstream monitors. Take Sewell instead.

This device successfully splits the DVI signal between two monitors, but has the problem that it does not always send a wake-up signal to downstream monitors. About 85% of the time I turned the system on, the monitors that received a split signal didn't wake up. I could make it wake up by unplugging the dark monitors DVI cables from the Tripp Lite box and plugging them back in, or I could force the screen resolution to change a couple of times and that would normally wake the monitors up. But it hurt. I was going back and forth with Tripp Lite tech support and they were pointing the finger at my monitors (the Acert H233H in this case). But the monitors work fine without the Tripp Lite box, so they were wrong. The problem is really in the firmware in the Tripp Lite box. But their tech support couldn't help me. I've been living with this for quite some time, but recently got fed up with this problem and bought a better quality DVI splitter instead: Sewell Xponent DL 1x2 DVI Splitter. This one works great and never stops waking up my monitors. It's a bit more expensive, but I'm so glad I don't have to fiddle with it anymore. Sewell's device just works. take it instead
