I don't often write reviews unless something is really terrible or really great. Let me explain why I'm writing this review: I've had several OBD scanners in different price ranges. I do all my auto work myself and have restored a few wrecked cars just for fun so I'm not a beginner or just an oil change expert. I used to have very simple OBD scanners, special scanners and "more complex scanners". Buy this CR Pro. I have previously purchased an iCarSoft i980 which is for Mercedes ONLY. My last project car, which is also a Mercedes, was newer and had more modules that the i980 couldn't communicate with. The CR Pro was a top buy with free returns so I decided to give it a try. So I have an i980 Mercedes Benz only pocket scanner, a top Zurich scanner that does OBD+OEM, SRS, ABS etc codes and now a CR Pro. CR Pro is fantastic. They make different versions of this scanner and some of them are limited by the number of marks to scan. If you choose CR Pro, it works with all brands and all models. The European OEM code scanning feature is amazing. Compared to my next best scanner which gave me 2 codes, on my latest Mercedes project CR Pro went through all 42 modules and gave me accurate information about the extracted codes. It also offers you live data feeds and live data entry on various modules. I read some negative reviews before purchasing. Some even say it doesn't do anything a $15 scanner won't. These people are dead wrong and clearly not using it properly. It has great functionality and works surprisingly well. Is this a real professional scanner? no But it's also well below the $1,000 price point that comes with professional scanners. I would even wager that a number of small independent shops have a scanner like this - in fact I know for sure that it has more functions and features than the scanner used by several of my local independent shops - and all for less than 300 U.S. dollar ! Buy a cheaper scanner and it might work well for you but if you have a European car or more than one car and like doing things with your own hands I would invest in this scanner it is fantastic and I would love to do it , so I'll buy it sooner/before I bought the other 2 scanners I have!
