We tried them in black/grey (I call it dark gray because it's more accurate). when you see them in person) and blue, and while we liked both, the charcoal is way cooler. And the charcoal color is such that they can even pass as dark blue. double win. I love them on my 3 year old this summer with shorts. The insole doesn't feel quite as soft, but it has to be comfortable enough or my picky toddler will complain. Instead, he always wants to wear them. However, he didn't wear them much as they are his "good shoes" and not game shoes. Nevertheless, we are very satisfied with them so far. It doesn't look like the wide size actually differs from the regular size, other than the velcro straps are slightly different, presumably to accommodate the wider mount.
