Restricted Use

The first thing I did when I received them was test them out by running them in a standard sink in our dishwasher. I had it on the bottom shelf. They passed without damage. Unsurprisingly, they excel at some tasks. After all, these are containers with holes in the bottom, so the draining isn't a surprise. I used to use a metal strainer with legs that sits loose in the sink but it got lost when I moved. They will get the job done, but in some cases they need to be used with caution. Since they don't sit freely on the bottom of the sink and I don't want to drain the water if the bottom of the strainer makes contact with the bottom of the sink, I either have to hire a drain helper or I'll put the "ear" on them the sink divider, and then carefully pour in the liquid to filter. For me neither is perfect. Either I work with one hand, holding a pot of hot liquids and solid food, and with the other I press a colander against the sink divider, or I have to be very careful not to burn my assistant. The strainer tends to slide off the sink divider if I'm not careful. I love that they rub against each other and store so take up very little closet space, but for most of my purposes they don't do the job, meaning I'll probably have to buy another metal one with legs anyway.
