I don't recommend the smallest size :c

I have the smallest size for a long haired chihuahua puppy. He was 4 months old when I got him and is now 7 months old. I would not recommend the smallest size for a puppy or dog getting used to a collar as it is not very strong. I've had this collar for less than a year and it's already falling apart. My pup scratched it a lot when settling in and it will probably fall apart more easily with a larger dog. I would recommend getting something cheaper for a dog that is getting used to the collar. If you have an older dog or a dog who is already used to a collar, you should be fine. I liked the design, but now you can't even tell the design. I was also disappointed with the clasp. This is a metal clasp which is different from all other sizes that have plastic clasps. At first I thought it was a plus, but it doesn't click when you take it off or put it on, so it's hard to tell if it's all the way in or not. I had so much trouble with this initially because it was NOT fun to mess around with a collar on a puppy who was already protesting. The ring for attaching the tag and leash is also quite small. This has made potty training more difficult than before for the first few months because you have a tiny clamp that you're trying to find on a squirming puppy as quickly as possible to get him outside to pee. That finally motivated me to buy him a new Petco collar today. It was definitely a lot more expensive, but the material is of a much better quality. In general, I don't recommend the smallest size, although other sizes are made with better materials.
