Review on 🚽 Thetford Corp White Porta Potti 92860 135 by Robert Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

From campers to glampers!

Used primarily when camping and stowed in the back of a minivan making it handy for a toilet emergency - handy when public toilets are too gross. SIZE: Small and low to the ground. The seat and bowl are also small. Not super comfortable but ok. It's easy to use if you have decent mobility (can get up from a squat), fairly easy to clean (why the toilet seat is detachable I don't know) and the lid snaps into place to stop odors escaping when you are not inside. use. 2 adults can use it for 2 days before throwing it away maybe 3. FEATURES: The flush function is almost useless. As others have said, you need to press down firmly on the bellows. Very little water comes out, not enough to move a square of toilet paper and not flush out the entire bowl. I keep a water bottle next to my gym top and quickly rinse the bowl after use. I almost took a star off for that, but the good outweighs the bad, so I don't even see it as a huge downside. Maybe mine is defective, but I squeeze hard and get a drip. HANDLING: I use a heaping tablespoon of Happy Campers Holding Tank Treatment mixed with warm water (shaken in a glass) and pour into a storage tank. I use Angel Soft septic toilet paper - it's cheaper than RV toilet paper and is highly biodegradable. Happy Campers converts solid waste and toilet paper into liquid, so emptying the storage tank is as simple as pouring the (liquid) contents down the toilet and flushing. Then I flush the tank several times. DRAINING: Although there is no smell when the toilet is not in use and the lid is closed, emptying the tank is a different story. The smell is terrible. Sometimes after draining and rinsing, I fill the holding tank with water and baking soda and let it deodorize overnight. I don't know if it helps, but I feel better. Because it weighs less than 3 gallons, it's not too heavy to lift. CONS: There is one thing I found questionable and irrelevant to the topic. But without going into too much detail, I doubt I received a used block. I'm not sure I would have had the guts, but if I could go back I would first flush the holding tank, or maybe sniff it upon receipt. Also, I didn't have the deodorant pack that others were talking about. Pros: Overall, this thing is really comfortable. Much better than a 5 gallon bucket full of garbage bags or urinating into a bottle in the dark at night. The peace of mind it brings is worth the money spent. I keep Method Wipes nearby and keep them clean which also makes using them a pleasure. (DO NOT rinse cleaning cloths!). It made our hikes much more enjoyable.
