I'm not really much of a bike rider, but lately I've been going on some longer trips (about 20 miles once a week or so) and decided that it might be worth my while to invest in some clip in pedals. After reading about the two main types of clipless systems, I decided the SPD-style pedals would better fit my bill and budget, and desire to stay around $100 together with shoes. Installation was a breeze, once I purchased an additional wrench to get my unexpectedly heavy old regular rectangle pedals off, and these Venzo brand pedals slipped right into place.I haven't had any issues with the tension of the clipping mechanism after three solid rides so far, though I did have a bolt fall out of my shoe causing the shoe to get stuck clipped into the pedal -- I releasing the tension all the way got the shoe out but the small metal piece which the tension screw screws into is rather difficult to get back into position if it happens to fall out.The included cleats fit nicely on the shoes I bought and other than some embarrassing falls and general awkwardness getting in/out of the pedals, I haven't had any issues with these pedals. If you are a beginning cyclist like myself looking for an affordable entry to clipless pedal systems, these fit the bill well. I also have taken some shorter trips with regular non clip-in shoes with these and they are acceptably fine.
