The jury has not yet made a decision on this subject. I bought this to replace the Staples one. I connect my laptop to the master and I connect monitors, printers and other peripherals to the slaves. The problem is that it keeps turning off. It's like the laptop isn't powerful enough to keep everything else running. Any suggestions? Update September 21, 2016: I spoke to Matt at Tech Support. This device requires 40W of power from the main socket to activate the slave/sleep sockets. I think that's a bit high since most of my computer hardware is Energy Star certified and doesn't draw a steady 40W. I'll probably return this and buy another device with a lower threshold.
