Review on Tough Set of Rear Liftgate Lift Supports for Lexus Rx350 (2007-2009) and Rx330 (2004-2006) - With Brackets Included! by Richie Kotun

Easy installation, should have been done when buying a car!

From the moment I got my 2004 Rx330 "Rexy” I could tell it was over-stressing the tailgate motor. I figured it was most likely due to wear and tear and figured a replacement would be needed soon. After some cold weather, I noticed that the stock shocks gave out quite a bit and the sunroof didn't lift the last leg or so. At 6ft 1in and normal ride height, I banged my head on the bottom of the gate when it was "raised". The engine also sounded like it was under significant stress. Now that TuffStuffs is in, the problem is solved. Now I can stop worrying about the alternative: a much more expensive elevator motor repair/replacement. The engines are so expensive that it's probably time to consider selling the Rexy. Now we can make a little more life out of it. I place a delivery order and the sunroof goes up all the way (and faster), very helpful. The only downside is that the hatch is now noticeably harder to close. I prefer this to previous worn OE shocks. Get 2 people to help with the install... I did it with one but I know how to use tools and such. I used a stepladder and some wooden spacers to keep the gate as high as possible. The job took maybe 25 minutes.
