It works out. Food stays warm!

I bought this because it has the ability to carry a pan OR two. We use it with stainless steel lids. We first experienced it on Thanksgiving. We cooked the sweet potatoes and stuffing at home, then drove 15 miles in the freezing cold to my sister's house for dinner. We waited another half hour for people to arrive. When we took the dishes out, they were still HOT. It was fantastic! The ONLY thing I don't like is that the top zip doesn't close smoothly. It takes a few tries. Given the good price and overall performance, I can handle stubborn flashes. I love this product.
