Bad tailoring. the zipper is too long

Bought this for my toddler who doesn't want to wear down jackets in winter. The cut is pretty bad, but it's relatively heavy, not like a winter jacket, but to go quickly from the car to the shops, it can be ok even in 30 degree weather. He complained that he was cold and made me wear a light down jacket or just a down jacket a couple of times. I bought orange and it's cute.
