Review on πŸ’Ž Presidium Instruments Gem Indicator (PGI) Handheld Tester: Efficient Diamond and Colored Gemstone Identification Solution by Summer Hendricks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Software bugs but aesthetically pleasing machine with excellent ergonomics

Good idea in theory and ergonomics, very nice design. My device had issues with the battery cover just falling off when it was locked in place. It took two pieces of tape to attach securely. More importantly, however, the software appeared to have had significant problems as it got into a loop constantly thinking it was testing a jewel. The only stone that could be reliably identified was a diamond. Otherwise he could not identify tourmaline, spinel, amethyst, topaz or other common colored stones. All in all if it worked well it would be a great tool but in this case I think I'll choose one of the Presidium analog bump testers which have proven to be reliable over a long period of time.

Pros
  • Bead and jewelry making
Cons
  • Some little things
