I have been feeding my older chinchilla (Ernie) multiple times a day for almost 6 months and before that multiple times a day and it really is a life saver. Last year he developed a misaligned tooth with retrograde roots that caused him severe pain in his mouth and jaw. Although he can still eat his pellets, he can't eat enough (and can't eat hay) and lost weight until I started feeding him critical care regularly. He loves the flavor (I sometimes mix up fine grind too as he REALLY loves it) and happily squirts out when I offer it to him. If I have to go away for a while, I can also turn the SS into some kind of dough and make him little "pancakes" to eat during the day. My vet is amazed at how well Ernie is doing given his misaligned teeth and remarked that without CC and my involvement he would almost certainly be dead by now. Anyway, Ernie is happy, healthy and playful and maintains a healthy weight. The only complaint is that CC residue can clog your pipes if flushed down the sink. So be careful and rinse well. However, in terms of quality and usefulness, this material is just fantastic. I would highly recommend it to anyone whose herbivorous rodents are sick or having trouble eating.
