Review on 🧵 Brother GX37 Sewing Machine with 37 Built-in Stitches and 6 Included Sewing Feet by Denise Davis

I have never used a sewing machine in my life until I bought this. For comparison: I am 42 years old and the father of two children. When I told my wife I was going to buy a sewing machine, she looked at me like I was crazy. Which, to be honest, may be totally true, but I don't regret this purchase. I bought this because I hate throwing things away: pants that can be hemmed, knees that can be patched, whatever. Clothing is expensive and hand-sewing is tedious. This car comes with a great DVD which I watched one day and immediately threw away. I threw it away because you can basically watch the same YouTube video without messing around with the remote. It was much easier for me to just find the "Brother Sewing Machine How-To Video" and watch the Brother video on the tablet next to my sewing machine. And let me say that initially I was very concerned. Wash? What is a coil? Legs? Sewing machines are quite complex but the instructional video was very good. I didn't know *why* I was threading there, but as soon as I did I made my first stitch! I wouldn't say it was the cleanest job in the world, but I hemmed a pair of pants to fit. After the second pair I was already skating. I changed the line without looking at the video: new spool and all. The device is so simple: a 42-year-old who can't sew at all can master it in less than 30 minutes. The pieces I sewed held up and even ended up looking edgy (more a reflection of my lack of skill than any machine issues). I know I'm not doing anything complicated here. I don't sew my own clothes or use very complicated stitches, but I think this machine will do the vast majority of the jobs I will do around my house. I understand that this machine wasn't made for me (the purple floral pattern is a pretty good clue), but I don't think any man should be scared of learning to sew. It's a great ability and it's a great car to start with.
