Clamps barely open their jaws so I can't imagine someone taped this to the side of a hot pot where you just cooked pasta or whatever. I tried to show a kid how to use a colander with a cold, empty saucepan. Her reaction was quick: "I don't use it. That was the awkwardness I struggled with, "Just cut. Straight. Straight. Just cut. ME. I wouldn't dare plug this thing into a hot pot of boiling water. Besides, I see no point in attaching it cold and leaving it in place while cooking, I'm sure it's not intended for that purpose, again it's definitely not properly designed for what it's designed for, it is the design neither here nor there. Just defective. Take it back.
