I threw it away for a reason. The item was over my kitchen door, not even over my stovetop, and if the slightest bit of cooking smoke appeared anywhere in the room, it rattled LOUDLY for up to 30 minutes! The only way to tell the alarm there is no danger is to break the tongue, get rid of it and throw it in a landfill. The alarm should have a button to tell the alarm to turn off instead of killing it forever. This alarm clock has a 10 year guarantee and we had to throw it away after a month because we actually use our kitchen for cooking. Bad design.
