Both my cats like this! They quickly figured out to use their paws in the top holes to get at the catnip ball inside as well as chasing the tail as it peeks through the side holes .The white "tail" spins very quickly and there is only one speed. It is a bit lightweight and they scoot it about the floor a bit. It shuts off automatically to preserve battery life.This unit came with batteries and the battery compartment is secured both with a clip and that irritating little screw to double secure the compartment door. However, the manufacturer thoughtfully included a small screwdriver with the package. The battery door stays secure without it.
