I made the mistake of buying 2 and cutting them off at my local hardware store only to find out I need a programmed chip just to unlock the door and trunk. I knew I would need a programmed key to turn the car on, but I was hoping to use it as an extra key if I ever accidentally locked my original key in the car. Maybe Amazon will refund my money but I just wanted to share this with anyone trying to do the same as me. I've heard of some keys that only work on non-chip doors, but unfortunately that didn't happen on my 2010 Toyota Corolla. Try it at your own risk or do some thorough research beforehand and maybe try 1 first if you want to buy this product with the same intent as me.
