I received this hard drive to replace an aging smaller hard drive. I've bought Maxtor drives in the past and used Max Blast software to transfer files to a new drive and never had a problem. This time the software seemed to be missing. Windows XP did not boot on the new drive after the replacement. I had to replace the old drive and download a third party program to do what the Max Blast software was supposed to do. Transferring system files to a new computer is an integral part of simply using a new hard drive. I cannot recommend anything that requires the user to purchase additional items in order to use it.
