Great start for beginners

As a newbie to Arduino, I really enjoy the step-by-step, near-reliable experimentation with this kit. They guide you through advanced concepts with easy-to-follow instructions and clear illustrations. A few notes: carefully study the contents of the sketches (code) and take notes. Understand what each job does before moving on to the next. Useful snippets can be copied/pasted into a text file for further use. Expand your own library with useful sketches in addition to those already provided with Uno and this set. You can find something similar that has already been done. Check out their code and see how you can implement it for this task. Example. In an experiment, you connect a temperature sensor and then display the readings in a terminal window on your PC. At the end you will be asked to connect an LED that will light up when a certain (set by you) temperature is reached. In a short time, after some web digging and back to previous experiments, I got not one, but two LEDs that lit up at different temperature levels (a no-brainer for the experienced, gosh for that noob). The results have been added to my growing sketch library for future reference. Get a multi-compartment storage box to organize and keep track of all your components. If you add more later (and you will), they're all in one convenient place. You glue it to the base (follow the pictures in the book). If you install it backwards you will have to use longer wires to access the Arduino or use different holes on the breadboard than the instructions indicate.
