I made schemes 1 to 11 (I'll try the last one soon) and the eighth worked fine. Two (#6 and #10) needed "setting up" to get to work. I will clarify below. #11 is not working yet. More details below. The main problem is that the theory is (mostly) not explained. Another big problem is the complete carelessness in editing the guide. Schematic #11 is a prime example: the components and connection table doesn't even match the actual schematic. In many details. Another problem is that circuitsโ€ฆ

Great start for beginners

As a newbie to Arduino, I really enjoy the step-by-step, near-reliable experimentation with this kit. They guide you through advanced concepts with easy-to-follow instructions and clear illustrations. A few notes: carefully study the contents of the sketches (code) and take notes. Understand what each job does before moving on to the next. Useful snippets can be copied/pasted into a text file for further use. Expand your own library with useful sketches in addition to those already providedโ€ฆ

A bit pricey but a decent set to start with.

You can probably get an Arduino starter kit a bit cheaper if you look here at Revain or on this auction site. Uno looks legit, although it's pretty hard to tell apart these days, and Vilros isn't the official distributor listed on the Ardiono website. It behaves like Uno and sketches behave normally on it. The included breadboard is standard but cheaper. The components are all as expected (difficult to mess up the LEDs and connecting cable!). There are 12 projects in the "72-page manual" thatโ€ฆ

Great starter kit but can improve learning

For each of the 12 schematics showing you how to builds, the brochure contains:* A formal schematic * List of parts used * 3D and 2D schematics showing the completed breadboard/Arduino * Table of components used (e.g. 330 ohm resistor) and layout of the to using breadboard * Brief discussion of the C code used in the IDE * Expected results * Brief section of debugging guidance * A very brief example of a real application We rarely see in a brochure: * Thorough training on electronicsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • The all-in-one Arduino Uno kit to get you started on hundreds of Arduino projects
Cons
  • Something different

So far so good

Disclaimer: This is my first Arduino and no one will ever mistake me for an electrical engineer. All the details listed are listed here, except I'm not sure how to identify the shift register. I assume it's a DIP IC but I'm not sure. One more thing. The listing says the transistors will be 2N3904. You are not. If they were N2222 they would be fine (functionally equivalent and can actually handle higher current) but they are P2N2222 instead. From what I read in Manufacturers: Electronicsโ€ฆ
