Disclaimer: This is my first Arduino and no one will ever mistake me for an electrical engineer. All the details listed are listed here, except I'm not sure how to identify the shift register. I assume it's a DIP IC but I'm not sure. One more thing. The listing says the transistors will be 2N3904. You are not. If they were N2222 they would be fine (functionally equivalent and can actually handle higher current) but they are P2N2222 instead. From what I read in Manufacturers: Electronics, manufacturers have swapped out the 2N2222 pin functions that have been standardized for decades. So the author strongly recommends avoiding them. Luckily I ordered a large quantity of 2N2222 so I'll be fine. If the instructions for 2N3904 are in the owner's manual and P2N2222 is used instead, the circuit won't work and I don't know if something could be damaged. This is a pretty serious bug and I'm lucky to have noticed it. I happened to read the right book before this kit came out. The package came with no parts list but it should have been. (UPDATE BELOW, I WAS WRONG) The rest of the Arduino started up fine and overall I'm happy. (It's genuine, by the way, if that little gold nugget next to the USB connector is, say, the gold standard for authenticity.) The kit might have been a bit pricey, but I knew that when I bought it. The base that you screw the Arduino to and glue the breadboard to (it has an adhesive backing) is a very nice touch I think. I'll update this review in about a week after I've had a chance to play. vicinity. I doubt that my opinion of the booklet as a guide for raw food beginners will be very high. I can already see that this is not detailed enough, for example in the breadboard explanation. But let's see. UPDATE: The booklet includes a fairly detailed parts list with photos of each item. I was wrong. And the listing says P2N2222 transistors, contrary to what is listed on Revain. So this should mean that the correct diagrams are shown in the booklet. I started reading it last night and it's a little better than I expected, although I don't think it's appropriate for a child. It's easy to burn out on an Arduino, and the first few examples don't emphasize that enough (no mention of Ohm's Law or maximum current rating for Arduino pins). So an adult with some knowledge should help. The booklet mentions ready-made programs that can be downloaded from the vilros website. That's good, but you won't learn anything about coding, only how to connect the circuits and run the program. That's not bad in itself, but it doesn't affect the programming aspect. I'd also like to add that I spent a few hours last night on various small projects (using my programming experience and knowledge I've gained from other Arduino C programming resources) and had a lot of fun. UPDATE 2: I received the LCD kit. It wasn't worth it. 1) You can get displays cheaper elsewhere. 2) the website should contain usage information, but it doesn't; Even after creating an account and logging in, I didn't find anything. Avoid the LCD version. UPDATE 3: Regarding these transistors. Now I understand that I don't have to worry. So they are collector-base-emitter, not emitter-base-collector. So what. You can literally flip the transistor in the opposite direction, and now the pins are emitter-base-collector when you look at them. You might be wondering why it was even necessary to make transistors with reversed pinouts, but that's not a problem.
